The history of our company goes back to one of the largest holding groups in Western Europe – Alcopa, owned by the Moorkens family. Its beginnings date back to 1937, when Albert Moorkens and his wife Constance founded a company in Kontich, near Antwerp, dedicated to the production and distribution of motorcycles.
Although over time the group’s activity expanded into the distribution of cars and motorcycles, one of its pillars was also the production and sale of office furniture under the Moorkens Diffusion brand.
It was the market of the 1990s that inspired Pierre Moorkens to launch a new venture. In 1994, he established Moorkens Project Pologne in Warsaw.
In 2000, the company, together with its Polish branches, moved into its first headquarters – a modern building on Aleje Jerozolimskie in Warsaw. Entering the new millennium was marked in grand style: we opened Poland’s most modern office furniture showroom, designed by the renowned architectural studio JEMS, along with the largest and most up-to-date logistics facilities at that time.
After this period, Moorkens Projects Pologne focused on managing its real estate, while the newly established company MP Polska (named after the initials of Moorkens Projects Pologne) took over commercial operations in the field of office furniture sales.
In the first half of 2007, we became an independent business unit with 100% Belgian capital. That same year, the Alcopa group decided to spin off the Polish company, which was sold to private investor Philippe vander Straeten, who had long been associated with the Belgian brand GDB, where he served as IT Director. The position of Managing Director was assumed by Jolanta Dąbrowska.
In 2010, ownership of the company was transferred to the successor – Philippe’s son, Julien vander Straeten.
We grew dynamically – in 2015 we moved our Warsaw headquarters to the eco-friendly, certified GreenWings Offices building. A year later, we also relocated our Poznań office.
Today, our Warsaw showroom spans over 480 m² of inspiring interiors, located on the 6th floor of GreenWings Offices, offering a beautiful view of the city center.
From the very beginning, we have believed that well-designed, functional interiors can truly improve the quality of life and work. After decades in which all offices looked the same, the time came for an aesthetic revolution. Observing the transformation of urban architecture, design trends, and lifestyle changes, we too evolved – along with our way of living, working, and dreaming of creating spaces that are beautiful, comfortable, and timeless.
With passion, we have been pursuing this mission for over 30 years.
